Mattress firmness rating
To help you to find your perfect mattress firmness, we have assigned ratings to all our mattresses, based on our decades of experience. We categorise our mattresses from 1 to 5, where 1 is the softest and 5 is the firmest.

Soft to Medium
Our softest firmness rating is ideal if you sleep on your side and love gentle support and a plush, softer feel. This type of mattress may be more suitable if you're slighter in build or weight, and if you don't suffer from back problems.
Prefer the feel of a firmer mattress, choose medium support.

Medium
A medium firmness rating accommodates most body sizes and could benefit those who suffer from backache. This type of mattress is ideal if you find it hard to decide between a softer and a firmer feel mattress.
If you change positions when you sleep, from your side to your back. Then a medium/firm mattress maybe your best option.

Medium to Firm
If you prefer a firmer sleep surface than a medium mattress, then this firmness rating is perfect especially if you suffer from back pain.
This type of mattress could be the best compromise if you and your partner find it difficult to agree on a medium or a firmer feel.

Firm
Firmer feel mattresses are ideal for those who prefer a more solid, supportive surface especially if you prefer to sleep on your back or your stomach. These types of mattresses may often contain the word "ortho" in the product name.
A firmer feel mattress may be recommended if you have a larger than average frame.

Extra Firm
Sometimes called an orthopaedic mattress, our firmest mattress rating is best if you prefer the most supportive, sturdiest sleeping surface available. Mattresses that are extra firm will most likely contain the word "ortho" in the product title.
An extra firm rating mattress may be beneficial for those with very bad back problems. This rating might not be suitable for those with a slender build.

Pocket sprung mattress
Our pocket sprung mattress is made from individual pocket springs which are enclosed within its own fabric pocket that work independently from each other resulting in a greater level of personalised support and response for each person sleeping on the mattress.
The mattress is also covered in layers of hand teased fillings of premium quality cashmere, silk and wool helping to keep your sleep environment fresh feeling and hygienic.
Our pocket spring mattresses are hand-stitched in 2 or 4 rows and added with pure woollen tufts that improve the integrity and durability of the mattress.
Hybrid mattress
Our hybrid mattresses are a great way to experience the pressure-relieving benefits of memory foam while retaining the classic feel of an innerspring mattress. Combining these two support systems gives you the good night's sleep you deserve and waking up feeling refreshed.
Foam encapsulated mattress
If you're looking for a sturdy, supportive mattress, a foam encapsulated mattress is a good choice. This features a foam border built around the sides of the mattress to create an open box. The inner mattress is filled in with pocket springs and a layer of support foam above it ensuring the mattress surface is well supported.
Orthopaedic mattress
Our orthopaedic mattress are extra firm and an ideal choice if you need enhanced levels of support. Specially designed to care for and support your back, orthopaedic mattresses provide you with maximum support throughout the night and are recommended if you suffer from back pain. The firm support distributes your body weight to alleviate stress on the spine, relieving painful pressure points, and helping to maintain natural alignment of the spine.
